Do you know Bob and Larry from VeggieTales ? We love them! And when I say we I mean the whole family, not just Kung Fu Baby Boy.

With all honesty I have to say that I like to know the shows my son watches; just ask my husband and he will probably give you a list of TV shows that he cannot watch when Kung Fu Baby Boy is around. If you stay long enough, he will probably also tell you about all the times I’ve asked him to change the channel, because the movie is not appropriate for a 5-year-old child.

Is not that I want to raise my child inside a  bubble, it’s just that I look for TV shows that can help us reinforce the values and principles that we are trying to pass along, while setting a good example and of course, getting him entertained.

VeggieTales is one of my greatest allies in this regard, since the program reflects very well the way we are raising Kung Fu Baby Boy. At home we do not call people by offensive names, we ask for things with a please and when we receive them we say thank you; we ask for permission to interrupt conversations between the elderly, we ask for la bendición (blessing) when we greet our elder family member, including mom Dad; and we also take time to reflect on our actions and apologize when we hurt someone’s feelings or we behave incorrectly.

As a parent I feel I should be aware of absolutely everything I can, and even though I understand there are certain things beyond my hands; shows my son watches at home are totally under my control.

Up until recently, we were only able to enjoy VeggieTales through the screen; we even took them on car rides since they are available online. That changed when we found the stuffed characters at our local Walmart in a very colorful and fun display. We found many of his favorites and even though Kung and Baby Boy tried to convince me to buy them all, he had to decide on one. He opted to go for Bob the tomato.

Although there are many children’s programs to choose from, is really difficult to find a list of programs that encourage respect and values. To me, VeggieTales has the complete package, especially now that we can carry Bob the tomato with as a little reminder to be our best no matter where we go.

¿Conoces a Bob y a Larry de VeggieTales?, ¡a nosotros nos encantan! Y cuando digo nosotros me refiero a toda la familia, no solo a Kung Fu Baby Boy.

Sinceramente me gusta estar pendiente de lo que mi hijo mira, sino pregúntale a mi esposo y te dará una lista de programas de televisión que él no puede mirar cuando Kung Fu Baby Boy está cerca. Si te quedas el tiempo suficiente, probablemente también te cuente sobre todas las veces que le he pedido que cambie de canal, porque la película no es apropiada para un niño de 5 años.

No es que desee criar a mi hijo dentro de una burbuja de cristal, realmente lo que busco es exponerlo a programas de televisión que ayuden a suplementar los valores y costumbres que tratamos de inculcarle, mientras le dan un buen ejemplo y por supuesto, le ofrecen entretenimiento.

VeggieTales es uno de mis grandes aliados en ese aspecto, ya que en el programa se refleja muy bien la manera en la que estamos criando a Kung Fu Baby Boy. En casa no llamamos a las personas por sobrenombres ofensivos, pedimos la cosas con un por favor y cuando las recibimos decimos gracias, tenemos que pedir permiso para interrumpir las conversaciones de los mayores, pedimos la bendición cuando saludamos a nuestros familiares mayores, incluyendo a mamá y a papá, además de reflexionar y pedir disculpas cuando herimos los sentimientos de alguien o nos comportamos de manera incorrecta.

Como madre siento que debo estar pendiente de absolutamente todo y aunque hay ciertas cosas que escapan de mis manos; los programas que mi hijo mira en casa están totalmente bajo mi control.

Hasta no hace mucho solo podíamos contar con la presencia de VeggieTales a través de sus capítulos, los cuales los podíamos ver incluso fuera de casa porque están disponibles en Netflix, pero ahora los podemos llevar a todas partes, ya que puedes encontrar los peluches en tu Walmart local. Nosotros los encontramos en un exhibidor bien colorido que tenía a los personajes en diferentes tamaños, y aunque Kung y Baby Boy trató de convencerme de comprarlos todos, le tocó decidirse por uno solo y optó por llevarse a casa a Bob el tomate.

Aunque existen muchos programas infantiles para escoger, sinceramente es difícil encontrar una gran lista de programas que inculque valores y promueva el respeto. Para mi VeggieTales tiene el paquete completo, sobre todo ahora que podemos llevar a Bob el tomate con nosotros.
