Hace un poco más de un año atrás pasaba noches enteras sentada frente a la computadora tratando de aprender todo lo relacionado con los pañales de tela modernos, los distintos tipos que existían y por supuesto como usarlos y lavarlos. Finalmente hice mi primera orden y ahora en Septiembre cumplimos el primer aniversario usando pañales de tela exclusivamente.
Hoy por hoy sigo aprendiendo y defendiendo a los pañales de tela, realmente nunca pensé que se fuese a convertir en una pasión y/u obsesión, así que cuando me contactaron para hacer la reseña del libro de Kelly Wels Changing Diapers: The Hip Mom’s Guide to Modern Cloth Diapering* (que solo estaba disponible para apartarlo) no podía creerlo, ya que había escuchado infinidad de veces su nombre y conocía de su pasión y sobretodo dedicación a correr la voz acerca de los pañales de tela, me sentí súper halagada e inmediatamente accedí.
La copia del libro llegó a mi casa mientras me encontraba de vacaciones en Venezuela y la verdad que me moría de ganas por ponerle las manos. Al volver y revisar toda la correspondencia acumulada lo encontré y me llevó menos de 24 horas leerlo de principio a fin.
¡Me encantó!, es sumamente fácil de leer, no solo por el tipo de lenguaje que utiliza, sino porque hasta el tamaño del libro y el tipo de letra que utilizaron es perfecto. ¿Mencioné que las fotos son preciosas, coloridas y llenas de bebés súper encantadores?.
El libro está dividido en 10 capítulos, los cuales pueden ser leídos en orden (como lo hice yo) o simplemente pueden ser leídos aleatoriamente según sea necesario, ya que es una guía y el orden no afecta su contenido.
Como dije anteriormente ya llevo un año usando pañales de tela y un poquito menos escribiendo acerca de ellos, así que se podrán imaginar todas las cosas que he leído y que me han pasado, pero el libro me enseñó un montón y me hizo recordar que realmente todos los días se aprende algo nuevo, incluso en materias en las que nos sentimos confiados.
La guía está diseñada maravillosamente y abarca todo lo que una persona principiante podría preguntar, pero al mismo tiempo ofrece una fuente de consulta para aquellas mamas que llevamos tiempo en esto y necesitamos refrescar la memoria en algunas cositas. Es un libro honesto

Realmente creo que era necesaria una guía como ésta, ya que la mayoría de los libros que se pueden encontrar con respecto al tema de los pañales de tela están desfasados, además me hubiese encantado poder haber tenido la oportunidad de contar con el Changing Diapers: The Hip Mom’s Guide to Modern Cloth Diapering hace un año atrás cuando estaba empezando en el mundo de la tela, ya que me hubiese ahorrado un montón de tiempo buscando.
Está todo lo que se necesita saber, incluso tiene al final una sección donde pueden llevar un control de los pañales que han comprado, sus tiendas favoritas y hasta un espacio para las notas personales. Realmente un libro que se puede aprovechar al máximo.
Creo que si tienen amigas interesadas en usar pañales de tela o algún Baby shower cercano, pueden aprovechar ésta maravillosa oportunidad y adquirirlo para esa mami que se estrena o hasta para ustedes mismas.
